DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN...?

Lisa writes:
I have a question to ask of the cousins. Does anybody remember a tin can in Nanny L.'s yard that we were always warned to stay away from whilst running around? I swear, every time we went out to play, they cautioned us about this and we were very careful to run around, jump over and altogether avoid it. It was upside down kind of near the front side of the yard.
Did I imagine this whole thing? Does anybody else know what I'm talking about? What was under that thing anyway???

Marc writes:
The coffee can was used to cover the valve that went to the fuel oil tank in the cellar. We were told everytime we ventured into the yard: "watch out for the can!"

Charlene writes:
I remember the can! Also running into Grandma's house with black raspberries under our shoes and getting chased back out of the house.

Uncle Angelo writes:
Charlene, they weren't black raspberries, they are mullberries, they are still messy and you would probably still get chased out of the house because I have new white wall to wall carpeting :-) since we found oil under the can. Don't send me an email, I'm off to Europe. :-)

Chris writes:
I remember the can as well. We were told that there were termites under there that would come out and eat the house!

November 17, 1999:
Thanks to the combined efforts of Uncle Angelo, Aunt Catherine and Uncle "D", we now have a current photograph of "THE CAN!"

However, Uncle Angelo still cautions family members to stay away from "THE CAN." In fact, he was recently able to capture on film the force that is unleashed from beneath "THE CAN." This never-before-seen photograph has been safely ensconced in Uncle Angelo's secret "L FILES" for our protection. Proceed with caution if you dare to look in the "L FILES"...
